Dr. Greenhow is a board-certified (ABO; RCPS(C)) and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in Joint Replacement, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, and fracture management.

A native of Canada, Dr. Greenhow completed his Honors Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees at Queen's University in Ontario in 1993 and 1997, respectively. Dr. Greenhow then pursued Orthopedic Surgery in Vancouver, completing the prestigious five-year program in 2002. During his final year, he served as Chief Orthopedic Resident.

Following this, Dr. Greenhow was selected to complete a one-year Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at the internationally renowned Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London, Ontario. This clinical fellowship was under the direction of Dr. Peter Fowler, recent President of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. At the completion of this fellowship, Dr. Greenhow earned his Diploma in Sports Medicine and board certification with the Canadian Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Greenhow is also board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Through the years, Dr. Greenhow has authored and co-authored several scientific research papers and has presented at numerous national and international meetings. He has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. He has also been actively involved as a team physician and orthopedic consultant for several varsity football and junior hockey teams. Currently, he is the Orthopedic Consultant for Colorado Storm soccer and is a preferred provider for the Colorado Section of the PGA.

Dr. Greenhow specializes in arthroscopy and arthroscopy-assisted surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip. He has a particular interest in ligament reconstruction of the knee as well as arthroscopic instability repairs of the shoulder. His specialty training in arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques has lead him to pursue extensive additional training in minimally invasive joint replacement of the hip and knee, as well as computer navigation and robotic techniques.

In conjunction with his partner, Dr. Greenhow was the first surgeon in Colorado to perform the minimally invasive and muscle sparing MIS Anterior hip replacement, MIS Quad-Sparing total knee replacement, and MIS 2-incision hip replacement. Dr. Greenhow and his partner, Dr. Craig Loucks, were the first two surgeons in the Greater Denver area to perform the MIS Anterior total hip replacement technique. This is a standard total hip replacement done through an approximately 10cm incision over the front of the hip without cutting any muscles or tendons. This is an increasingly used technique in total hip replacement which is now performed by a growing number of surgeons across the country. Dr. Greenhow's involvement with these new procedures has been featured in several publications including the Denver Post, Aurora Daily Sun, Aurora Sentinel, and MD News. Dr. Greenhow is one of 4 surgeons in the US involved in an ongoing prospective gait analysis study, comparing Anterior hip replacement with the more traditional posterior approach. Dr. Greenhow is also one of the designing surgeons for a new femoral stem implant which will incorporate modularity to better match and customize the fit to each individual patient.

Dr. Greenhow is currently a consultant for an international orthopedic implant company based in Switzerland (Medacta, Inc. ). He serves on the Educational Advisory Board for Anterior Approach hip replacement and acts as an Instructor in the US. Dr. Greenhow and Dr. Loucks now serve as a national training center to teach other surgeons this technique. Dr. Greenhow and his partner also teach their MIS Anterior total hip replacement technique to other surgeons from across the continent.

Dr. Greenhow has spent the last several years actively involved in the evolution of hip and knee replacement technologies, including MIS, computer navigation and robotics. The most recent evolution in knee replacements is Patient-Specific and Custom-Fit implants which are image based (MRI and CT scan) technologies. The function and longevity of a knee replacement depends on the precise sizing and positioning of the implants, factoring in the mechanical alignment and rotational axes of the knee and leg. Image guided technologies allow for the creation of a precise 3-dimensional model of the extremity, thereby allowing for the creation of patient-specific cutting guides and custom-fit implants. These exciting technologies are coupled with minimally invasive techniques for implantation. Dr. Greenhow is one of the designing surgeons for a new patient-specific knee replacement technique which has been released in Europe and will be released in the US in 2010.

In addition to his elective practice, Dr. Greenhow is very active in the management of adult and pediatric fractures at several area hospitals including Sky Ridge Medical Center, Centennial Medical Plaza, and The Medical Center of Aurora.
